Cloudy day...

Today was overcast and still a little chilly. Both kids are sick with colds so we kept most of our activities low-key. We decorated a present that we are going to send off to our friends Lucy and Ella.

And Maya picked out her own outfit today. Seriously. Remember how she's into pink and purple right now?

Jordan spent some time with his puzzles. He just loves them. He's way past the 24 piece sets that are out there for his age so thankfully Grandma E found a Cars puzzle that has 100 pieces.

For Christmas, my mom put together a huge recipe book filled with family recipes, so for dessert tonight I decided to make my Grandma Stern's Orange Sherbert Recipe. I don't ever remember having it at her house, but I do remember that she always had sherbert in the freezer. In fact, that was the first place I ever tasted it. Usually it was orange, sometimes raspberry. It was such a treat to have it there because it was so different from the vanilla ice cream I was used to having at home. I have so many good memories of spending time at my Grandma and Grandpa Stern's house in New London and I think it's cool that we still celebrate Christmas there every year with my dad's six other siblings and their families. It's crazy to think that Jordan and Maya are running around a house that their grandpa grew up in. And I'm so thankful to still have both sets of my grandparents...I'm lucky, I know.....

But back to the dessert. Once Jordan's quiet time was done he came down and I found some steps in the recipe that he could help me with. After he opened the cool whip, he said "I'm strong because I'm 4!". He also commented that I'm good at stirring.

Maya got a new Princess toothbrush yesterday at Target. She is currently on minute 10 of staring at herself in the bathroom mirror as she brushes her teeth. I guess there could be worse things she could be doing.

And finally, I must include a naptime/bedtime routine that Maya made up all herself. Honestly, we had no part in this. So it's called WrapRead. She'll say those words to us and what that means is that before her nap or before bedtime, she wants to be wrapped in her blanket and read to. It's actually helpful because she's very excited about it so when it's close to her bedtime we just say "WrapRead?" and she scampers up the stairs to her crib.

I better finish getting supper ready. We're having baked cod (a good recipe from my mom) and roasted potatoes. As I was chopping up the potatoes, I accidently dropped one on the floor and for a split second thought my old dog Murphy was going to come gobble it up. He just loved raw potatoes. I miss him everyday but I know he is getting lots of raw potatoes in heaven!

Jordan just told me "This is taking forever!" in regards to my typing out this entry so I better end it. : )
