Carving pumpkins

Trying to catch up....trying to catch up.

So this entry finds us about 2 weeks ago. We had picked out 4 good pumpkins at the pumpkin patch initially, but when we brought them in to carve, they were mushy. So we had to tell the kids that our pumpkins got sick and we would have to get new ones. Of course this is a couple nights before Halloween so either stores were sold out or the pumpkins they had were totally over-priced. We finally found a couple decent priced ones for the kids and then Nate and I bought the kind of pumpkins that you can actually eat because they were cheaper than the carving ones. Oh well.

Nate said I have schooled the kids in the way of Disney well because they both wanted my beloved Disney characters on their pumpkins. I was proud.

Jordan is not a fan of the guts.

Maya was just happy to have her own utensil for her pumpkin. The kids took the term "scoop" quite literally and both went right for the ice cream scoops in the kitchen. They quickly found out that they didn't work too well.

Nate had to come in for the heavy scooping action.

Maya and her Minnie Mouse pumpkin

The finished masterpieces - a little hard to see but they looked awesome when they were lit up. Nothing like two spooky Disney pumpkins!
