Upnorth at the cabin

Friday morning we set off for Three Lakes. Nate and my dad drove in the Pilot and my mom, Kari, myself and the kids piled in the car. We took a pit stop in Antigo to look at an old Great Northern train that was displayed. (Click on the picture to enlarge it).

And then an hour later we arrived! The picture below is actually the backside of the cabin which faces the lake. Isn't it beautiful?

I was still feeling somewhat okay on Friday so I was able get outside a little and take some pictures.

Jordan's favorite thing to do when we're upnorth is dig and play in the sand that surrounds the cabin. I think he would stay outside all day if we let him.

Maya did a little digging herself, but of course the sunglasses stayed on.

Grandma helped too. I don't have a picture of it, but Mike's fiancee Kari put in a good couple hours with Jordan in the sand too. As always, thank you Kari!!!

My grandparents suprised Jordan on Saturday morning with a brand new motorized car! The fire engine they orginally bought didn't work so when they took it back, the store only had a John Deere car left. For those of you who don't know, my Grandma was a Case tractor dealer for many many years so a John Deere car wasn't going to necessarily fit the bill. My grandma fixed the problem with a couple Packers stickers! Good solution!

Notice he is wearing a hat and gloves - it hardly hit 40 degrees that morning!

You know Maya would not be content just watching all this happen, so she hopped on too.

Maya hit the princess jackpot - Grandma Lu got her a princess pillow and sleeping bag to keep at the cabin.

The guys got in some cribbage games - Nate has taught my whole family how to play.

So that's all I have for upnorth pictures. I seriously spent about 85% of the weekend in bed. I can't thank Nate and the rest of my family enough for helping out with the kids. They had a great time. And I wish I could have visited more with my grandparents...I have been sick the past 3 times I've gone upnorth and haven't been able to see them for an extended amount of time. Their house is only a 2 minute walk from my parents' cabin. But hopefully we'll make it back up sometime this summer. I will take many vitamins leading up to the next visit.

I don't remember too much of Sunday except that we were in the car for a long time! I tried to get some sleep here and there but as soon as we got back to Middleton, I headed up to bed. Somehow I made it downstairs to receive a lovely bunch of tulips and a card from Jordan and Maya for Mother's Day. Their gifts made me smile. And then I went back to bed.
