We had a wonderful wonderful Memorial Day weekend. The rummage sale went so much better than I expected and we were able to spend some really good time with family. We were all sad to leave Shawano but also looking forward to getting home. The kids slept almost the entire way back to Madison and we ended the weekend by watching Fox and the Hound for Family Movie Night.

Worms, boats and bigwheels
Sunday morning we headed over to my parents where they surprised Maya with a Princess fishing pole and Jordan with a Cars fishing pole. The next step was to dig worms! Jordan and my mom handled that task - Maya didn't like getting dirt on her hands or her clothes. She kept pointing to her shoes and saying "Muddy" with a concerned face.

Here's a picture of Jordan and my mom with their worms. Jordan kept commenting on how he was looking for the "juicy" ones. Yuck.
Uncle Mike took over Maya's fishing pole after she grew tired of fishing.
No fish for Nate and Jordan but they had fun!
My mom made Jordan a cake to celebrate his first year of preschool. It was so good. She has been taking a cake decorating class for the past couple weeks so we got to enjoy all her hard work. Her hard work tasted good then, at 9 PM that night, and at 10 AM Sunday morning!
As always, Maya was the entertainment at lunchtime. Here she is featuring her sad face.
And here she is laughing at herself because she thinks she's hilarious. And she's right! It was really nice to eat outside. The weather was just perfect, not too hot or too windy. Plus the view of the river from my parents house is so relaxing.
Before we went out on the boat, Nate put sunscreen on the kids. I included this picture because of the concerned/bewildered look on Maya's face.
Boating on the river with snacks!
Maya found it fun to stick her tongue out while the boat was moving and then say "Cold tongue". For the amount of time she kept her mouth open, I was a little scared she was going to swallow a bug!
Towards the end of the night, Jordan wanted to reenact the race scene from Cars. He was Lighting McQueen, Maya was Chick Hicks (the bad car) and poor Kari was the Pace Car. I'm not entirely sure why she got stuck with that role, but Jordan just loves Kari so I think it was a sign of affection. So after an exciting lap around the driveway (he crashed once so the Pace Car could come out), Jordan/McQueen won. Above is his official race-winning photo - note the thumbs-up.
